Manchester United managing director David Gill has reiterated that Cristiano Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford.
The Portugal winger is currently preparing for Euro 2008 after scoring 42 goals last season.
But there is still speculation about the 23 years, the future plans ahead of the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
United remain optimistic about the situation and insist it remain their player.
"Our position is clear. Sir Alex (Ferguson) and I said in the last week, "Gill said as he announced they are to play Portsmouth in a dress rehearsal for the Community Shield in Nigeria in July.
"That's it. That's all we'll say on the matter, a point that's all."
The exhibition match will be the finale of the company Tinapa Resorts football tournament.
The date and venue have yet to be held with United travel to Nigeria South Africa, where they are involved in the Vodacom Challenge tournament July 19-26.
Gill said: "This is not the 39th game of stealth, do not worry about this. It's just a coincidence we play Portsmouth.
Exhibition games overseas can contribute to Manchester United, but also the Premier League in terms of ensuring that it is at the forefront of these fans mind when it comes to sell.
"Nigeria is home to our fourth biggest fan base with some 13.6 million worshippers and we will take a strong team.
"Sir Alex and the team are always eager to visit new places.
"This match will give an opportunity for our many fans in Nigeria to see the team in the flesh and provide a highlight of our summer tour."
Gill has confirmed that Ronaldo will not travel to South Africa or Nigeria, but only because he is on holiday after Euro 2008.
United are already looking to the future after winning the Champions League and retaining their Barclays Premier League title.
A fee was agreed with midfielder Cardiff for Aaron Ramsey, who has played in the finals of the FA Cup.
At least two other Premier League clubs are hunting for 17 years, but Gill said: "I am confident."
If all goes as planned, Ramsey will be loaned to the Coca-Cola Championship side next season.
