Deco insists he is not using the Euro as shop window
Portugal insists midfielder Deco is not using the Championships to Europe himself in the window as speculation continues over where he plays his club football next season.
The 30 years last month was cleared by Barcelona to talk to other potential employers, and revealed he would prefer a move to England or Italy.
It has been linked with moves to both Chelsea and Inter Milan, but for now the former Porto game is fully focused on his national team adventure Euro 2008.
"I do not have to prove anything to anyone," he said before tomorrow's second Group A match against the Czech Republic.
"I'm here to play for myself and for Portugal. My future does not depend on what happens in the championship of Europe ".
Luiz Felipe Scolari team triumphed 2-0 in their opening match against Turkey at the Stade de Geneva on Saturday to claim an advantage over early goal difference over the Czechs, who overcame co-hosts Switzerland 1-0 .
Deco is satisfied with the start of his side have made the competition - especially after themselves a mountain to climb by losing their first match to Greece in the Euro 2004. But it does not receive itself yet to come.
"It is important to get off to a good start, which has not been the case in 2004, but it is too early to talk about us as finalists," he said. "We have to take one game at a time."

The team are happy with the level of support but will not let it distract carnival atmosphere, according to Brazil-born Deco.

"We are very pleased to see all the people here support us, but it does not affect our attitude to all".
