Victor Munoz hoping better impressive feats

New Getafe coach Victor Munoz hopes to better the impressive achievements made by the club in past seasons.

During the last two campaigns, under former boss Bernd Schuster and Michael Laudrup, respectively, Getafe reached the Copa del Rey final on two occasions and to the UEFA Cup quarter-finals last year and maintaining their Primera Liga status.

Munoz, who joined the club over a period of two years face on Thursday, aims to top these results while making sure the club stays in Spain of top flight, where it has been since 2004.

"The most important thing is for Getafe to be in Primera Division. This is the main objective," he told the club's official website, www.getafecf.es, after his official presentation on Thursday.

"It's the most important goal, we are all clear about this. But we also want to go as far as we can in the cup. We will aim for the top.

"We'll see how. But despite the fact that the club had recently campaigns, hopefully, improve or at least match them.

"Let's see if this is possible, even if it's difficult."

Munoz, who takes over from Laudrup after being sacked as coach of Recreativo Huelva in February, has promised entertaining football fans, but not at price points.

"I have an idea about football where you have to think about the audience, but also to win, be competitive and meet the objectives set out for you," he said.

"The players we need to adapt to a way of playing, a way of playing that is most entertaining for the public, but where we always win, are consistent and win points.

"That is the idea that we have and we will try to transmit to the players."
